Brazilian Man Is Dead After His Wife Set Him On Fire Inside Of A Fish Market

A woman down in Brazil is in some serious trouble after she set her husband on fire at a fish market she owns. According to DailyMail, André Chapeta, 50, died Friday…less than a week after the tragic ordeal.

It all happened Monday morning when his wife, Ana María Paixaõ, spotted André sitting at a table.

Security footage showed Ana walking past a counter and opened a bottle before throwing the flammable liquid all over André. Ana then allegedly set him on fire using a lighter.

She was arrested the next morning, but was released later in the night after a judge failed to sign off an arrest warrant.

Police Chief Flávio Ferreira spoke with a local Brazilian news outlet and said that ‘he believes the incident was motivated by the woman’s jealousy over her husband.

Ana told the police that Andre had physically abused her prior to setting him on fire and reacted in self-defense, but the police isn’t buying it.

‘What she says is not what the image shows. The image shows the victim sitting in a chair. She arrives, coldly, throws the liquid and sets him on fire,’ Ferreira said. ‘She was not at that moment in a vulnerable situation, she was not in a situation in which she would be imminently attacked.’
