Philadelphia City Council Votes To Ban Ski Masks To Decrease Crime

Philadelphia City Council passed a legislation on Thursday to ban ski masks in some public spaces.

Supporters claim it will public safety amongst the current rise in high violent crime, but those against it says it will unfairly target people without proof of any wrongdoing.

According to AP, the legislation has been sent to Mayor Jim Kenney for review.

‘Once signed into law, the measure would ban ski masks, or balaclavas, in public spaces like schools, recreation centers, parks, city-owned buildings and on public transportation.

It defines the garment as a close-fitting covering over the whole head, with holes only for the eyes, nose, or mouth.’

Those who violate the law would be hit with a $250 fine.
