Angel Reese Announces She’s Declaring For The 2024 WNBA Draft

Angel Reese is coming through with a major announcement. After winning a title last season, the 2023 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player who led her team back to the Elite Eight this season, is  going pro.

The LSU star didn’t want to be basic with her announcement like many other basketball prospects often do.

Instead, Angel Reese announced her plans with a photoshoot in Vogue. The LSU star also tweeted some of the images included in the article with a caption quoting “Dip” by Nicki Minaj. It was a strong statement from Reese, who will hear her name called as one of the first picks in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

The 21 year old explained that she was inspired by Tennis icon Serena Williams, who announced her retirement from sport in 2022 with a fashion photoshoot via Vogue.

“I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” Reese says: “I’ve won a national championship, l’ve gotten [Southeastern Conference] Player of the Year, I’ve been an All-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro-and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play, ever. I feel like I’m ready.”

Earlier this week, the LSU Tigers star broke down in an emotional press conference after being outshone by Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes, during which she revealed the hate she has received since winning the 2023 national championship game.

Angel Reese’s teammate and rumored lover Flau’jae Johnson, came to her defense saying, “Everybody could have their opinion on Angel Reese. But y’all don’t know her. Y’all don’t know Angel Reese. I know Angel Reese. I know the real Angel Reese, and the person I see every day is a strong person.”

She’s a caring, loving person. The crown she wears is heavy, bro. She’s the type of teammate that will make you believe in yourself,” Flau’jae added.
