Ice Spice Takes Credit For The 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake That Hit New York City

According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude-4.8 earthquake hit the northeastern United States at 10:23 a.m. on Friday, sending tremors from Philadelphia to Boston and jolting buildings in Manhattan and throughout the five boroughs.

The U.S.G.S. shared that the earthquake’s epicenter was near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, about 40 miles west of New York City, estimating the depth of the bedrock rupture at 2.9 miles.

Per geologists, the earthquake is not a new thing in the New York area and that many small temblors go unnoticed every year, but its strength and intensity unsettled a region more accustomed to flooded roadways and snow-covered sidewalks than trembling walls.

The natural incidence has been the #1 trending on social media since it happened. Just in, rapper Ice Spice, who’s known for her twerking antics, is now taking responsibility for it. Ice Spice is taking credit for the earthquake, claiming it was as a result of her thunderous clapping a**.

“My bad for the earthquake yall u kno this a** be clappin,” the “Princess Diana” hitmaker wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. The tweet has since gone viral and has amassed millions of impressions, garnering mixed reactions from netizens.

“I shoulda known it was you who caused the earthquake,” someone commented, adding a video of Ice Spice twerking on water. Others don’t find it funny and have called her out for the insensitive tweet. “This is in incredibly poor taste, that earthquake took my aunt’s life. Please delete,” another person wrote.

“I forgive you just give warning next time my kids were scared,” someone else joked. “But ur talent be cappin,” another user clapped back. “We gon need some proof,” a netizen added. See some of the reactions below:
