Marc Lamont Hill Says O.J. Simpson Is A Monster, Not A Martyr And Should Not Be Celebrated
Marc Lamont Hill Says O.J Simpson Got Away With Murder Only Because Officers In The Case Were Caught Being Racist
Dreddsworld earlier reported on the passing of O.J. Simpson, who reportedly died of cancer at 76. The news of the former football player and actor’s death has been met with mixed reactions from people and it’s not looking so good.
We previously shared Caitlyn Jenner’s harsh reaction to Simpson’s death, saying it’s “good riddance.” Just in, academic, author, activist, and television personality, Marc Lamont Hill has also reacted to the news.
“O.J. Simpson was an abusive liar who abandoned his community long before he killed two people in cold blood. His acquittal for murder was the correct and necessary result of a racist criminal legal system. But he’s still a monster, not a martyr,” the professor of urban education at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City, wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“You could have said while he alive E let the man rest! Mind your business,” someone commented. “The glove didn’t fit! White people get away with murder all the time! America will be just fine!” another person wrote. “Respect the dead. Whatever he did is between him and God,” someone else added.
“Why wait til he dies to speak your mind? He JUST passed. Funeral ain’t even here and you dragging his name,” another user shared. “Can we ever as a people get and stay on Code? This is ridiculous,” someone penned.
“Ok if he did do it.. now that’s btw him n god if he make it through the gates.. or homegirl ghost gonna jump his ghost now.. so why was this necessary???? I don’t never see a blacc person bash CASEY about killing her baby in cold blood,” a user added.
O.J. was accused in the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Both were found stabbed to death outside Brown’s home in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood. After one of the most high-profile court trials in American history, O.J. was acquitted of all charges in October 1995.
However, a jury found him liable for their deaths in a civil lawsuit three years later. Simpson served nine years in a Nevada prison from 2008 to 2017 after he was convicted on charges including kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. He was released after being granted parole.
