Ebro : ‘Nicki Minaj Should Be Celebrated For Bringing Women Back In Rap’
Ebro Wants Nicki Minaj To Be Celebrated
Nicki Minaj has undeniably done a lot for Hip Hop and arguably the best female rapper ever. she’s been on a ‘Queenie’ streak for over 12 years now.
Nicki has released many albums, mixtapes hit singles and all and she’s never been in a ghost writer drama since her music breakthrough.
Back in July, She took to instagram to alight her tremendous effort of 12 years that cannot be overlooked.
“12 years ago I dropped my 1st mixtape,” she begins, sharing an image of Playtime Is Over. “Wrote every single word on every single song. I was so proud of that.” Perhaps it’s simply her native New York energy, but it’s clear that hip-hop purism is an important tenet of her artistry.
Likewise is paying respect to the legends who came before, something she feels the younger generation are unwilling to do. “I always shouted out my influences in my interviews. Now a days, it’s become cool to pretend u weren’t influenced by other artists,” she wrote.
And today, Hot 97 host Ebro Darden, believes it’s important that Nicki be shown proper respect for one in particular, bringing women in rap back.
“As this decade closes can someone put together a real celebration for Nicki Minaj?,” he tweeted. “She brought women in Rap back!! Lil Wayne gave her the bounce pass & she took off…now look!”.
