Akon Defends Tekashi 6ix9ine For Snitching
Although, Tekashi 6ix9ine was labeled has been seemingly disowned and condemned by Hip Hop heads for snitching during his court trial. The rainbow haired rapper still has couple of rap stars rooting for him.
6ix9ine went on a snitching spree, throwing his homies under the bus and even name dropping fellow rappers like Cardi B, Jim Jones and Trippie Redd.
Akon had an interview with Capital Xtra back in November last year, the prolific singer defended Tekashi 6ix9ine for snitching, saying we can’t really blame him. “With Tekashi it’s a little different because he comes from a generation that really didn’t have no moral ethic,” said the 46-year-old.”
“But everyone goes through something in their lives that propels them to do things that they feel is in the best interest of themselves. And I think, you really can’t blame him, if what he’s saying is the truth,” Akon added at the time.
In a recent conversation with DJ Whoo Kid, which took place on Instagram Live, Akon doubled down on why he’s defending 6ix9ine. “He had to literally decide, ‘What’s more valuable to me?’ My family or my future,” says Akon. “You have to make a decision that’s going to better you.”
The singer believes that snitching is viewed differently across generations, no longer affecting the youth as it did back in the day. Watch the video below :
