Lupe Fiasco Says He’s A Better Lyricist Than Kendrick Lamar, TDE Punch Responds
TDE President Laughs Off Lupe Fiasco Saying He’s A Better Lyricist Than Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar is regarded as one of the greatest lyricists in the rap game to-date, but Lupe Fiasco isn’t too sure K. Dot deserves a spot on top just yet. When an Hip Hop fan page asked their followers whether they thought Lupe Fiasco or Kendrick Lamar was a better lyricist, he chimed in with his take.
“Lupe but…” the Chicago rapper responded. The tweet sparked a debate among hip-hop fans, which eventually earned a response from TDE’s President Punch, who replied with his own take.
“Lol,” Punch tweeted, obviously disagreeing with Lupe’s opinion that he’s the better lyricist. Lupe eventually deleted his tweet, but that wasn’t before Punch replied. Fans have been reacting to the debated with mixed thoughts on who’s a better lyricist.

This isn’t the first time, Lupe will discredit Kendrick Lamar, back in 2018, the rapper suggested that Kendrick isn’t even a “top tier lyricist” in a series of now-deleted statements on Twitter last week.
When a fan asked Lupe to compare the lyricism of Logic and Kendrick, the rapper gave a surprising response. “I’ll put it to you like this. K. Dot is not a top tier lyricist to me and my standards when it comes to punchlines and bars,” he wrote. “His overall lyrics are good, his stories phenomenal, but punchline entendre lyrically I don’t see it.”
Another fan then asserted that any one of Kendrick’s songs is better than entire Lupe’s music catalog. Lupe replied: “I’ve never been destroyed.” He also expressed more thoughts on Kendrick’s bars, namely his 2013 “Control” verse.
“Also the only issue that the world thinks I have with K. Dot and I actually do is that I think his ‘Control’ verse was wack and super overhyped to be a verse claiming you are the best rapper. It was very weird. I was told it was just bait, but still,” he said, but ended up apologizing for his remarks at the time.
