This Texas man must have God on his side!
Jonathan Pitts was on trial for a murder charge this week and was granted release on bond due to data being loss from the Dallas department’s computer system.

Pitts was granted bond on Thursday. The prosecutors asked the judge to prolong his trial while they work with the police department to see if the data was lost while transferring information from the computer to the drive. As of right now, it hasn’t been confirmed when Pitts would be free from jail.
In 2019 Pitts was charged in the shooting of Shun Handy. Now authorities are researching if this issue could’ve occurred with previous cases of others.
The judge granted Pitts release without having to pay bail because it is a state that requires a person to be freed if the prosecutors are not ready at the time of trial.

Mayor Eric Johnson spoke out stating, “the people of Dallas deserve answers about what happened, why top city staff kept it quiet for months, and what can be done to resolve these critical issues that affect public safety.”
According to Yahoonews the police department was aware of this issue back on April 5th, but didn’t bring it to anybody’s attention until last Friday.
The lost data included evidence such as, audio, video and case notes but according to the police, “employees failed to follow proper, established procedures, resulting in the deletion of the data files.”
