Man Convicted For Hit & Run That Murdered Nicki Minaj’s Father Says $150M Lawsuit Is ‘Over The Top’
Lawyer Representing Man Responsible For Fatally Striking Nicki Mina’s Father In Hit And Run Says $150M Lawsuit Is “Over The Top”
The guy convicted to one year in prison for the hit-and-run that murdered Nicki Minaj’s father has drawn the ‘Moment 4 Life’ rapper into a legal case against him. According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline, Charles Polevich requested permission to depose Minaj about her childhood and allegations that her father was abusive to her mother.
Robert Maraj was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Robert was crossing the street in Long Island at 6:15 PM when he was hit by a vehicle.
Before the sentence, Nicki’s mom Carol filed a $150 million civil lawsuit against Charles. The suit accused the man of driving recklessly when he struck Robert. Carol’s lawyer Ben Crump said, “Charles Polevich’s behavior was criminal, cowardly, and immoral. We will hold him responsible for his reckless actions that led to Robert Maraj’s death!”

Charles’ counsel stated his client was in an emergency and had to deal with a “sudden and unexpected circumstance, not of his own making.” In a fresh motion, Charles’ counsel claims Carol was deposed over two days, most recently on December 15, 2023.
He stated: “The deposition includes queries on domestic abuse. [Carol] acknowledges that Nicki made allegations of domestic abuse, but she did not provide relevant responses about the authenticity of her daughter’s statements.
Carol’s counsel stated that Nicki’s allegations about alleged domestic abuse are directly related to Carol’s claims in the case. Charles stated that it is clear that Nicki possesses “knowledge and information that is material and necessary to the defense of the claims set forth in this action.” As a result, he said he should be able to depose Nicki. Carol’s lawyer opposed it.
He ended, “Defendant claims that Nicki “has knowledge and information that is material and necessary to the defense of the claims set forth in this action.” This is a weak argument intended to drag the litigation on and to depose a celebrity. Nicki and the family should not have to be subjected to this harassment.”
