Nicki Minaj Remembers Juice WRLD At When Accepting Her Billboard Award

Juice WRLD’s death is still very much fresh in our hearts and he’ll forever be remembered. While many Hip Hop acts have paid tribute to the late rapper, Nicki did hers at the Billboard awards.

Nicki Minaj was honored with the Billboard Gamechanger award last night and she also took time to honor Juice WRLD in her acceptance speech.

“I want to thank Billboard for doing this,  it’s the only thing that got me dressed in the last month,” she started with. “I recently had a pleasure of working and touring with Juice WRLD I had a great conversation with him one day and while we walked to the stage and he told me to stay calm and to pray. He said he’s been trying to do just that l, I was so shocked to hear him of all people tell me that but right there where he told me, I actually did felt calm.”

She continued, “Looking back now, I wish I did something differently or said something to help. He detailed how much he loves his girlfriend and music, when he was with me in the studio, he did lots of songs quickly.”

And on winning the Gamechanger award,  she said, “I had an approach that had a lot of different layers. I first got the underground market and my hometown [on lock]. Then I gradually worked my way up.”

“One of the things that I used [to my advantage] was my ability to switch my flow and be entertaining on a track. And even before I was doing music, I loved looking at magazines to see who was setting trends,” she added.
