Noname On Responding To J Cole: “My Ego Got The Best Of Me”

The “Black Lives Matter” campaign was distracted after J Cole and Noname embroiled in a light misunderstanding that led to response tracks from both sides.

The two quick quick became trending topic on social media with fans of both artists taking sides. It all started when Noname tweeted about rappers not using their platforms to support the BLM protests.

Cole felt she was referring to him and it’s safe to say she actually was… although he’s not the only one, Kendrick Lamar and others included. Both Kendrick and Cole discography have been more about support for Blacks and  condemning racism and not putting out a tweet concerning the ongoing protests flamed people up.

Although Cole and Kendrick have been spotted during protests in their various locations, folks online needed them to do more and some even wanted them cancelled. The Dreamville front man responded to Noname on “Snow On Da Bluff“.

The song was met with praises and as well criticism from fans. Noname replied him with “Song 33”, in under 70-seconds. “Little did I know my reading would be a bother/ It’s trans women being murdered and this is all he can offer?” She raps on the record.

Though Jermaine retweeted a link to her song, she reflected on it and isn’t too impressed she responded. “i’ve been thinking a lot about it and i am not proud of myself for responding with song 33,” she tweeted.

“I tried to use it as a moment to draw attention back to the issues i care about but i didn’t have to respond. my ego got the best of me. i apologize for any further distraction this caused.”
