Jay Z Tops “40 Best Rappers Over 40” List – Others React

Level released a compilation yesterday, ranking the “40 Best Rappers Over 40,” in order of quality. There is an old belief that rappers are supposed to retire by 30, but it’s quite interesting to see them emcees still making waves after 30.

However, at 40, most rappers would have dropped the mic to focus on other things in their lives. Irregardless, some are not slowing down and doesn’t have retirement at sight.

I guess this prompted Level to honor them by compiling a list of 40 rappers still kicking at age 40. Jay Z tops the list and others in thr top ten includes Royce Da 5’9, Pusha T, Black Thoughts, Killer Mike, Ghostface Killah, Eminem, Rick Ross, Styles, P, and El-P.

Royce Da 5’9” felt honored to be placed in the second position next to HOV. He took to Instagram to react, thanking the publication for the inclusion. “I ain’t eeeem mad, Thanx y’all it’s a honor,” Nickle wrote in the caption.

Fat Joe, who occupies the 14th spot, also took to Twitter to defend the list’s criteria. “No disrespect to all the living legends over 40 i believe they asking who dropped hits after 40 and unfortunately for your fav rappers they might have not dropped heat after 40 FACTS,” Joe penned.

Although Styles P made it to the top 10, he’s not quite impressed with his position. “Wait a minute they say it’s 8 rappers over 40 that out work me ?????” he asks. “AWWW YALL GONNA PISS ME OFF AND WORK HARDER.” Not long after, he confirmed that his next solo album was on the way.
