NYC Gang Member Commits Three Drive-By-Shootings After Being Released Without Bail
An alleged New York gang member, released without bail on an attempted murder charge, went right back to his life of crime and took part in at least three drive-by shootings upon his release.
Acccording to the NY Post, Darrius Sutton, 23, was arrested for a May 16 shooting in the courtyard of an East New York building that left a man seriously injured.
Despite being charged for attempted murder, Sutton was released without bail on the same day that he was arrested. Per the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, the only witness in the case recanted their statement.

A rep for the DA said, “At the time of arraignment, the sole eyewitness had recanted so we did not have sufficient evidence to keep the defendant in custody. The investigation is continuing and we hope other witnesses come forward.”
Federal prosecutors add, “The defendant’s violent spree over the last year has left at least seven individuals with gunshot wounds. That these events did not lead to seven deaths is entirely fortuitous.”
“The clips of the incident make clear that the defendant shoots to kill.” Sutton is currently being held in federal custody pending his trial.
