Driver Who Killed Nicki Minaj’s Father In A Hit-And-Run Has Been Arrested
Earlier this week, we reported that Nicki Minaj’s father Robert Maraj was killed in a hit-and-run in Long Island. Nassau County Police in New York confirmed the death of 64-year-old Robert Maraj to TMZ on Sunday.
Nicki Minaj‘s father was walking on a road in Mineola at about 6pm Friday when he was struck by a car heading northbound on Roslyn Road at the intersection with Raff Avenue, authorities said.
The driver fled the scene and has yet to be identified. At the time, authorities asked for the public’s help in tracking them down. Maraj was rushed to a hospital, where he died.
However, new report has it that the driver has been apprehended. According to NBCNewYork, authorities have made an arrest after they searched the area of the hit-and-run for evidence, including surveillance video.
In a Wednesday press conference, Det. Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick, commanding officer of the Nassau Police homicide squad, said that the car apparently involved was a white 1992 Volvo station wagon.
Charles Polevich, 71, who does not have a prior criminal record, according to police, will be charged with leaving the scene of an auto accident with a fatality as well as tampering with evidence because, according to Fitzpatrick, he took the vehicle involved in the incident and did things to it in order to hide the car.
