Instagram Model Launches GoFundMe To Help Re-Pay PPP Loan
A popular Instagram model allegedly set up a GoFundMe page, to help her pay back a PPP loan – according to a new GoFundme page. The page is looking to raise $20,000 and was started by a woman named Lakeisha Golden.
The page posted a photo of a pretty IG model, along with the caption, “I got 20k ppp loan now the feds after me plz help I can’t do jail!! I got 3 kids dat need me!!!”
The page has already raised more than $4,000 dollars. A PPP Loan is a Small Business Administration backed loan that helps businesses keep their workforce employed during the COVID-19 crisis. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on payroll.
The program is designed for employers with 500 employees or less—this includes sole proprietorships, independent contractors and the self-employed, private non-profits and 501(c)(19) veterans organizations. Some borrowers may be eligible for PPP loan forgiveness.
Unfortunately, applying for a PPP loan was relatively quick and easy – and many unscrupulous people fraudulently applied for the money.
The Justice Department has brought criminal charges against at least 209 individuals in 119 cases related to Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) fraud since banks and other lenders began processing loan applications on behalf of the Small Business Administration on April 3, 2020. And these cases are just the beginning.
