The Father Of 89 Kids, The World’s Largest Family, Has Sadly Passed Away

Father of 89 kids Zions Chana, has passed away. According to BBC, Chana died on Sunday in the northeastern Indian state of Mizoram. Chana was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Doctors reportedly told the news agency PTI that he allegedly suffered from both diabetes and hypertension.

The news site reports that Chana, who was the head of a polygamist Christian sect, is survived by an estimated 38 wives, 89 children along with 36 grandchildren.

While sending out condolences, Mizoram’s chief minister, Zoramthanga, tweeted on Monday, “With heavy heart, #Mizoram bid farewell to Mr. Zion…believed to head the world’s largest family, with 38 wives and 89 children,” Zoramthanga said.

“Mizoram and his village at Baktawng Tlangnuam has become a major tourist attraction in the state because of the family. Rest in Peace Sir,” The New York Post quotes.

Chana and his family have been twice featured on the TV series “Ripley’s Believe It or Not.” As Zoramthanga mentioned in his tweet, they also became a global tourist attraction, with people from all over the world traveling to his village just to see their massive four-story house that features over 100 rooms.
