Sha’Carri Richardson Set To Take On Jamaican Sprinters In Prefontaine Classic Aug 21st
Sha’carri Richardson will soon take on the medalist from the Tokyo Olympics!
Richardson wasn’t able to run in the Tokyo Olympics this year after failing a drug test for marijuana after she qualified first at the U.S Olympic trials back in June. Which caused her to be suspended for a month.
Now, Richardson will face off against Jamaica’s sprinters Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Sherika Jackson who swept the competition in the 100-meter sprint.
The race will be held at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field, the location of this year’s Olympic Trials where the 21-year-old Richardson posted a time of 10.86 seconds. The Prefontaine Classic race includes six of the eight women who raced in the 100-meter final in Tokyo.
Recently there was a debate on Twitter whether Sha’Carri would’ve won the Tokyo Olympics or not. So for fans this race will be very interesting and will have a lot of people glued to their tv’s.
Even though the world is just beginning to know who Richardson is, she has been putting in work for awhile! As a teenager back in 2016 she won the 100-meter title at the AAU junior olympics. Also in 2019 while she was a Freshman at Louisiana State University, she broke the 100-meter record at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships. Come 2021 we all are familiar with her ground breaking performance with a new personal best of 10.72 seconds at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, to win gold.
#Socialites will you be tuned in to see who will take home title?
