Belgian School Students Reenact Violent Scenes From Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’
Belgian School Issues Warning After Student Reenact Scenes From Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’
A school in Belgium has issued a warning after their students reenacted a scene from the popular Netflix series ‘Squid Game’ during recess, according to the New York Post.
The Municipal School of Erquelinnes Béguinage Hainaut issued a warning to parents on their Facebook page after several students reenacted the deadly version of ‘Red Light, Green’ from the first episode of the series.
“Dear parents, you have surely heard about this series “squid game”. In this series, characters are brought to play children’s games and if they lose, they are eliminated …. they are executed! This series is forbidden to children under 18 years old for its violent scenes,” the statement reads.
Administrators from the school said they will take more vigilant action to prevent students from reenacting more scenes from the popular show.
“We are very vigilant to stop this unhealthy and dangerous game! We count on your support and collaboration to make your children aware of the consequences that this can cause! Sanctions will be taken against children who continue this game (hitting other children…etc)”
They also promised to punish any students found participating in the “Jackass”-esque pastime — although they clarified that the G-rated version of “Red Light, Green Light” — which doesn’t involve striking classmates — is still OK to play.
This is not the first time the series has impacted the public. As previously reported, a man and his wife were harassed consistently after their phone number was posted on the series.
