NJ Teacher Suspended After Telling Muslim Student, ‘We Don’t Negotiate With Terrorists’
A New Jersey high school teacher has been suspended for allegedly making fun of a Muslim student in class and calling him a terrorist.
According to the 17-year-olds family, Mohammed Zubi who is a senior at Ridgefield Memorial High School had asked his teacher if he could have more time to complete an assignment.
The teacher then allegedly told Mohammed, “We don’t negotiate with terrorists.”
Selaedin Maksut, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) spoke out on behalf of the family and stated:
“It perpetuates the stereotypes against Arabs and Muslims and that, for the past 20 years, this is what organizations like CAIR and others have been trying to combat.”
“You’d like think 20 years later these would be dying down. But here they are, being used by a teacher in a classroom, so it’s very alarming to see.”
