Tennessee Man Who Was Recorded Running Over BLM Protestors Will Not Be Charged
Man Will Not Be Charged For Running Over ‘Black Lives Matter’ Protesters
Jared Benjamin Lafer, the infamous man who drove his SUV through a group of BLM protestors in Johnson City, Tennesee, will not be charged for the incident.
A grand jury decided on Monday and declared that there was not enough evidence to indict Lafer despite the charge being reduced from aggravated assault to reckless aggravated assault.
According to the Daily Beast, the jurors were presented with a video clip of Lafer running over a protestor with his truck and nearly striking another one before fleeing the scene. Prior to committing the act, Lafer made several posts on social media where he joked about running over protestors but they were deleted at the time of his arrest.

Lafer said he wanted to “Thank god and everybody else who supported me” in response to the case’s outcome.
I knew from day one that I was not guilty, and it took the grand jury — 12 people — to prove that as well.”
Lafer’s lawyer said in a statement that they had “great confidence” in the trial:
“We always had great confidence that once we had a trial on the matter, that the jury would return a, ‘not guilty,’ for Mr. Lafer in his situation and today — thanks to the hard work of the staff and the attorneys at Meade Law Group — we’ve been able to keep the charges from being filed in the first place,” Meade said.
“Having a no true bill issued by the grand jury is a big deal, and it’s a rare deal. It doesn’t happen by accident.”
