Woman Pleads Guilty To Torturing Colleague For Four Hours For Turning Down Her Advances
Woman Pleads Guilty To Assaulting Fellow College Professor
A woman has pleaded guilty to orchestrating a four-hour attack on a fellow college professor over an alleged recent break-up.
According to The Daily Mail, Rie Hachiyanagi, 50, pleaded guilty to nine charges for an attack on December 24, 2019, on Lauret Savoy.
“Three counts of armed assault with intent to murder a person over 60, three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60 and one count each of home invasion, mayhem and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony.”
The night of the attack Hachiyanagi reportedly knocked on Savoy’s door claiming to be upset and after she was let in, she reportedly straddled Savoy and said that she “had loved (her) for years.” However, Savoy says they were just friends. Upon denying her advances, Hachiyanagi told Savoy she would be disfigured and murdered.
The judge sentenced her to 10-12 years in prison for the attempted murder. Savoy suffered from multiple shocking injuries, including stab wounds to her head and face, broken bones, nerve damage in her face, and injuries to her fingers.
On Friday, Savoy read a victim impact statement to the court.
“I’ve struggled to find a word that could hold in its meaning both the attack and my experience of it,” she said. “The closest I found is this: ‘severe or excruciating pain or suffering (of body or mind); anguish, agony, torment; the infliction of such.’ This is a definition of torture.”
When police arrived Hachiyanagi claimed she was there to save her friend after an intruder broke in.
