Scientists Claim That First Living Robots Can Now Reproduce
The world is getting more bizarre and now we are all going to be replaced by robots apparently!
According to U.S scientists, the world’s first-ever living robots are now able to reproduce.
CNN reports that the Xenobots are made up of stem cells from the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis). The bots have the ability to move, work in groups and self-heal.
The new development came from the University of Vermont, Tufts University, and Harvard University’s Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering who claim to have discovered a new form of reproduction.
“I was astounded by it,” said Michael Levin, a biology professor at Tufts University.
“Frogs have a way of reproducing that they normally use but when you … liberate (the cells) from the rest of the embryo and you give them a chance to figure out how to be in a new environment, not only do they figure out a new way to move, but they also figure out apparently a new way to reproduce.”
The Xenobots look similar to Pacman.
