Fashion Designer & DJ Virgil Abloh Passes Away At The Age Of 41

Prolific designer Virgil Abloh, has died at the age of 41 after battling cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

The news of his passing was confirmed on a statement posted on his Instagram page where it reads:

“We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues.”

Additionally, he was battling cancer for more than two years which was kept under wraps after learning about his diagnosis in 2019.

“For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture.” the statement continues.

Abloh is well known for launching his fashion brands Pyrex which later changed to Off-White. He also made history as the first African-American creative director of menswear for Louis Vuitton and designed album covers for Jay-Z, Kanye West, ASAP Rocky, and Lil Uzi.
