Drunk Missouri Man Arrested For Impersonating A Cop To Bail His Friend Out Of Jail
Intoxicated Man Arrested After Impersonating A Cop To Bail His Friend
A Missouri man was arrested after he was caught impersonating a police officer when he attempted to release his friend from jail.
Chad Michael Gosney was caught on Thursday attempting to free his friend from the Jefferson County Jail while he was intoxicated.
Police reported that Gosney arrived at the jail and told one of them that he was an officer who was picking up an inmate. Thinking he fooled the officers, Gosney entered the bookings section where police closed the door behind him and arrested him.
“Gosney, who is not a police officer, showed up at the jail in Hillsboro and ‘claimed to be an officer picking up an inmate. We let him in,’ the statement continued, ‘closed the door, and arrested him.’” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on Facebook.
The statement also said that investigators believe Gosney acted alone and the inmate was most likely aware that his friend tried to bail him out of jail.
“However, while Gosney’s plan involved freeing a specific inmate, the sheriff’s office believes that Gosney acted on his own. We do not believe the inmate he was asking for was aware of the attempt to get him out.’”
He is now in jail on a $10,000 bond.
