Woman Sentenced To 20 Years After Using Rent A Hitman Website For Trying To Hire Someone To Assassinate Her Ex-Husband

Wendy Lynn Wein,52, was sentenced to serve seven to 20 years in prison on Thursday for attempting to hire someone to kill her ex-husband after he stole $20,000 from her.

Wein pleaded guilty on November 12 to using the website RentAHitman.com to hire someone to kill her husband in July 2020.

The actual(fake) website was created by IT student Bob Innes in 2005 as a class project to catch people who were actually looking to hire hitmen. Innes discovered an application from Wein and contacted state police about her inquiry. An undercover officer was hired to pose as a contract killer to meet up with her.

Wein has taken accountability for her actions and hopes a lesson was learned based on her case.

“I take full responsibility for my actions, and I hope a lesson is learned by my example. I had no right to lash out at anyone, and in a manner of minutes, I changed everyone’s lives. I’ve humiliated my family doing this.”

She continued, “I am not making excuses for myself. I simply wanted to let you know where my head was.”
