Man Punches Asian Woman Over 125 Times In Yonkers Hate Crime Attack
A man was charged with attempted murder in what police have defined as a “brutal hate crime” against an Asian woman in New York last week, according to NBC News.
Video footage of the incident was released and shows the woman being punched over 125 times, stomping on her and spitting on the victim.
Tammel Esco, 42, was taken into custody after allegedly calling a 67-year-old woman an “Asian b—-,” then brutally attacking her on Friday in the city of Yonkers.
Esco was jailed the same day shortly after the occurrence when officers spotted him still outside the building, but the Yonkers Police Department declared the arrest and released video of the attack on Monday.
Looking at the footage it seems as if the woman was attempting to go up to her apartment then you can see a man walking into the door and striking her from behind. Then authorities say from then on he continues to punch her over and over again.
“This is one of the most appalling attacks I have ever seen; to beat a helpless woman is despicable and targeting her because of her race makes it more so,” said Yonkers Police Commissioner John J. Mueller.
The woman’s identity was not released to the public, but news outlets say she is recovering in the hospital in stable condition.
