Homicide Detectives Remove Five Fetuses From Anti-Abortion Protestor’s Home
Nine anti-abortion protesters were charged with obstructing access to a women’s reproductive facility and police say they found five fetuses in one of their homes.
An unsealed indictment revealed on Wednesday that the charges were filed by the Department of Justice and each protestor faces two counts of engaging in a conspiracy against a person’s civil rights and clinic access obstruction.
In October 2020, Lauren Handy, Jonathan Darnel, Jay Smith, Paula Harlow, Jean Marshall, John Hinshaw, Heather Idoni, William Goodman, and Joan Bell invaded an unknown women’s health clinic and prevented patients from receiving abortions or other reproductive health services.
When I asked anti-abortion activist Lauren Handy what homicide detectives pulled out of her house Wednesday, she only said, “people will freak out when they hear.” @DCPoliceDept now says it found 5 fetuses. @wusa9 pic.twitter.com/9Uvm7JY9dQ

Prosecutors also noted that she pretended to be a woman named Hazel Jenkins and made an appointment on the day of the clinic invasion. The incident was live-streamed on Facebook.
According to ABC News, the Metropolitan Police Department raided Handy’s home and discovered five fetuses.
The indictment also stated the group traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in the blockade and called themselves Red Rose Rescue. The group name stems from members handing out red roses to women who are waiting for reproductive health care.
If convicted, the nine will face a maximum of 11 years and a $350,000 fine.
