Woman Finds Thief Who Stole Her Credit Card Info At A Wawa Gas Station In Florida

A Florida woman Kristina Hood, tracked down the fraudulent purchases on her credit card and decided to return to the Wawa gas station to track down the thief who used her cards.

She explained to WPTV that the thief wiped out $900 from her account and made transactions at another Wawa gas station in St. Lucie. Hood also contacted the Wawa gas station in Stuart about the transaction and an employee said they a feeling about who the suspect was.

“(The Wawa employee) was like, ‘Well, he’s spending about an hour at the pumps.’ So, the time stamp was about 6 o’clock at night, 6:02 p.m. to be exact, and he stayed there until 7:03. He’s just putting in debit cards, left and right, left and right, gift cards at the diesel pump, 9 and 10, so they’re back to back.”

Hood believed the suspect was someone who would frequently visit the same gas station. When she arrived the following day, she saw the man in a white truck pumping gas at two pumps. Officers also said the suspect was discarding multiple cards and Hood received more fraudulent transaction alerts from her bank that were similar to the day before. She contacted the police seconds later as the man continued to pump his gas.

“We pulled in and I got goosebumps. I froze. I started shaking because that same description that I had fresh in my head was sitting right there at the pump doing the same thing.” Police arrived at the scene and discovered multiple steel tanks in the male suspect’s vehicle in addition to 28 counterfeit credit and debit cards.

Hood says she is still working with her bank on getting all of her money back: “I have nothing. I was unable to get my license updated. I can’t drive right now. My rent is not paid. My bills are not paid. Now I have to go to all of these people and explain what happened.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with “trafficking in or possessing counterfeit credit cards, unlawful conveyance of fuel, obtaining fuel by fraud, fraudulent use of credit card more than two times within six months, and unlawful possession of personal ID of five or more people.”
