Teacher Resigns After Burning Student’s Hand In Science Experiment Gone Wrong
A middle school teacher resigned after burning a student’s hand during a science experiment that went wrong Friday.
The incident took place at Granbury Middle School in Granbury, Texas when the 37-year-old teacher reportedly placed hand sanitizer on the 12-year-old male student’s hand then lit the product shortly after.
Police said the experiment went completely wrong when the boy suffered third-degre burns. Grandbury Police Lt. Russell Grizzard said in a statement that the science experiment was conducted in another classroom but there were no injuries.
“It looks like every class that day had a group of students volunteer to do it. There was also another classroom that was doing that same thing where there was no incident,”
An investigation is currently underway after Grandbury Independent School District officials said they turned the case over to police.
“A GMS teacher has resigned and is no longer an employee of the school district. This follows a student injury on Friday during a science class experiment. Campus officials have turned this matter over to law enforcement/proper authorities for further investigation”
