Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Their Many Accessory Trends

Even if aliens from another planet were to make a shock arrival onto our planet, there’s a decent chance, despite their lack of knowledge of mankind, they’d have an idea of who the Kardashians are and what they represent. That is what is known as star power. 

There are many who despise the Kardashians and everything they have come to represent in the world of excess and superficiality, but even these people would have to accept that the super-rich family has made an indelible mark on our society and the consciousness of the world as a whole.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians ran from October 2007 all the way up until the final season of the iconic but incredibly vapid show, which aired to its finale in June 2021. For twenty seasons, the family has entertained millions with their antics.

Personalized Jewelry

Last year saw custom-made jewelry make a massive impact on the fashion trends of us mere mortals but let’s not forget that the Kardashians have been doing this stuff for years.

Pretty much every member of the Kardashians has been spotted wearing a custom name necklace or two. Whether that’s Kim, Kyle, Khloe, or anyone for that matter, this is definitely one style trend that you can say, with some confidence, was either started by this well-known family or at the very least partly inspired by them.

 

Rings On Top of Rings

In 2022 we are all more than aware of ring stacking, but when Kylie chose to put on more rings than she had fingers, we were left aghast. It turns out she was merely setting the trend, and of course, every ring she wore was diamond or jewel-encrusted to the max.

 

Birkin Bag

When you have immense wealth, then clearly you have no choice other than to flaunt it… right? Well, this beautiful sand-colored Birkin bag from Kylie is absolutely gorgeous, and we can well forgive her for spending the thousands of dollars needed to get hold of such a priceless item. 

Clear Heels

This accessory is very much in the ‘that can’t be comfortable’ category, but that didn’t stop it from being a ‘thing’ for a few years. The clear Yeezy heels were worn by Kim Kardashian, no doubt to appease her then-husband Kanye West, but we are sure thousands of fans of the show followed her lead and bought a pair.

 

Extra Long Leather Boots

Again, further proof, if needed, that the Kardashians’ idea of style was (and still is) very much rooted in style over substance. They loved to wear very long leather boots, Kylie especially, and frankly, it’s a look that not many can successfully pull off. Jet black leather was the color of choice for her, and frankly, we are not sure it’s a look we can get behind.

 

Anything Dior

If there is one designer that the Kardashian family was synonymous with, as well as Louis Vuitton, then it would be Dior. The super-rich clan can not get enough of the brand, and basically, anything with the name would be paraded around their opulent house and when they were out and about. 

 

Choker Collars

Kim was always keen on choker collars, sometimes unflatteringly called dog collars, and if they came in a great deal of bling, then she’d be even more likely to wear this accessory, be that on the catwalk or the red carpet. Again, it’s a brave look that mere mortals should avoid like the plague.

Weird and Wonderful Contact Lenses

Kim tried these out for a short period, mercifully, early on in her route to stardom. They’d make her eyes pop but not in a good way. Wearing them made her look a little like a somewhat confused alien, and it’s not a look that even she could pull off.

Silk Japanese Kimono

Kourtney loved nothing more than wearing a stylish silk Japanese kimono (now SKIMS) when walking around the house and pool. To be fair, there is something very flattering about wearing a kimono. They give you the freedom to feel like a queen in your own house, and that’s not a massive leap to make when you are part of the Kardashian dynasty.

 

Fur or Faux?

There were a number of times when the Kardashians, especially Khloe, opted to wear fur, and it was never entirely clear if the items they were wearing were exclusively fur or faux.

It’s very likely that on a number of occasions, they wore the real thing, which is, of course, very troubling and goes some way to illustrate that the family didn’t really care too much about public opinion, even when dealing with such an emotive issue such as wearing fur.

Dalmatian Print Accessories

Now, these we are sure are not created with the use of Dalmatians themselves, but nonetheless, it’s clear Kylie had a thing for the Dalmatian print and must have been aware that her desire for such a design made her appear not unlike Disney villain Cruella De Vil, but again this is no doubt something she courted. 

These are just a small selection of the accessories the Kardashian family is known for, and for a few of these trends, you can certainly say that the eccentric group was the purveyors of the looks themselves; such is the power and reach of the super famous household.
