Store Owner’s Gas Pumps Accidentally Charges 45 Cents Per Gallon In Tennessee

A convenient store owner was reportedly on the verge of tears after learning that his gas pumps accidentally charged customers 45 cents per gallon in Tennessee.

Customer Henry DeHart discovered the error after he added 12 gallons of premium gas to his tank and noticed the total price added up to $5.64.

The price per gallon was reportedly 45 cents and it stunned DeHart since the normal price of premium gas in the state is $4.64 a gallon. In a Facebook post, DeHart further explained how he informed the convenience store owner about the error.

“This is NOT to toot my own horn. I’m more sad for the owner of this gas station. I just stopped to fill up and when I went to put the handle away, I was like well that’s not right.. I went inside and got the owner (there was a very difficult language barrier) and tried to explain that his premium fuel was off by a decimal and was only $0.45! He wasn’t getting it, so I was like, “print my receipt.” I showed him I put 12 gallons in my car for $5.64. He ran back around the counter started poking at his screen and then turned green. No one had told him in the last 5 hours… Moreover, a guy in line behind me actually got pissed at me,” DeHart wrote.

Apparently, there was a language barrier between DeHart and the owner but the owner soon realized the error after reading the receipt from the transaction.

“I insisted I pay the difference because he had already taken such a beating this morning. What I find most frustrating about this is that this man, who came to a country to start a life, where they don’t speak his native language, with the guts to own a small business would get screwed over by people for half of day… There’s no telling how much money he lost today. He was on the verge of tears.

“I get it, times are tough and gas is expensive, but NOTHING in this world is free. Someone is ultimately always footing the bill.” DeHart continued to say.
