Six-Year-Old Girl Thrown Hundreds Of Yards From Her Home By Tornado
A six-year-old girl was found unconscious and lying upside down from a tree after a tornado threw her hundreds of yards away from her home in Salado.
Miriam Rios was listed in serious critical condition after she and her family were all thrown in different directions by the tornado Tuesday evening.
According to the Daily Mail, the family was trying to drive to a safer location until hail started to fall down on their home as told by her uncle Stephen Perez. Perez’s one-year-old brother, Ezra, was found in the field while their mother, Vanessa Rios, was found hanging upside down from a cedar tree. Their father, Joel Rios, was found in another location.

Vanessa was pregnant when the unexpected happened and medics rushed her to a nearby hospital. She suffered a miscarriage due to her severe injuries. Joel, Miriam, and Erza underwent multiple surgeries which included repairing broken pelvic bones.
Their home was completely destroyed during the tornado as told by Perez. ‘It’s just the foundation that’s left. There’s absolutely nothing. And (my sister) was really proud about that home.’
A GoFundMe was launched to help the family rebuild their home and the goal is set for $80,000. So far, Perez has raised $66,000 for his sister and her family.
The tornado left 23 people injured during the storm in Salado and it was reported by the National Weather Service that the tornado was a category EF3 with wind speeds of 165 mph.
