1 Shot Dead, 2 Injured On Xavier University Campus After High School Graduation
3 People Shot After Gunfire Breaks Out At New Orleans Graduation
One person has died and two others were injured in a shooting which took place following a high school graduation ceremony on the Xavier University campus in New Orleans on Tuesday afternoon, the NOPD has revealed.
The Morris Jeff High School had arranged for the ceremony to be held on the campus, but things turned deadly when gunshots were heard in the parking lot after an alleged fight broke out between two women.
All three people who were hit were rushed to a nearby hospital, with one female — an elderly woman — succumbing to her injuries while the other two men were left with non-life threatening wounds.

Several guns were reportedly detained at the scene, which cops believe are in connection to the shooting. The ceremony is believed to have just ended inside the Convocation Center.
At the time of reporting, NOPD Deputy Supt. Christopher Goodly could not confirm whether the elderly victim was the grandmother of a graduating student, but said that the injuries of the other victims were to the leg and shoulder, respectively.
“This unfortunate incident did not have to happen,” he said.
NOLA-PS Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis Jr. added, “The graduating seniors of Morris Jeff were there to share in their collective achievements and bask in the brightness of their futures – only to have their optimism ripped apart by gun violence.”
