Texas Officer Fired For The Second Time After Causing Black Man To Lose Consciousness Due To Excessive Force

A Forth Worth, Texas police officer has been fired for the second time for lying about using excessive force on a black man that caused him to lose consciousness.

Back in January of the year, Mitchell Miller and another officer were escorting an intoxicated arrested man to the jail entrance.

When the man turned towards Miller, he aggressively pushed him to the ground, causing him to hit his head on the concrete and lose consciousness. Due to the graphic nature of the video we can’t post it, but the video is on Twitter.

Police say that Miller did not report the incident, and when asked about it, he reportedly lied and said he didn’t use excessive force. The incident was actually reported by another officer who witnessed it go down. This started an internal investigation into the incident. It was then determined that Miller did use excessive force, and was “untruthful in reporting the incident”. He was fired, and could potential face legal consequences.

The crazy part about this entire story is Miller was already fired once before from the same police force for something similar. In 2019, he and four other officers were fired after a black man was found dead in the back of a police car in 2018. The man said he couldn’t breathe, and instead of them helping him, they left him there to die.

Miller appealed the decision, and was able to be reinstated to the to the patrol division in 2020. So even after he was able to come back, he still was acting up!

“His continued failure to adhere to the high standards that every Fort Worth police officer is expected to maintain during all interactions with members of the public necessitated the Chief’s decision to terminate Miller’s employment,” police said in Friday’s news release.
