Mass Shooting In South Street Philadelphia Leaves 3 Dead & Several Injured
Fifteen people were shot, and three were killed when several men opened fire into a crowd in the South Street section of Philadelphia Saturday night.
The shooting took place on South Street between 2nd and 3rd street minutes before midnight as hundreds of people were on the strip.
Moments later, the crowd heard gunshots and saw the gunmen firing into the crowd. NBC Philadelphia reported that one of the officers fired his gun at one of the shooters but it was unclear if the gunman was struck.

Inspector D.F. Pace said the suspect dropped their weapon and fled from the scene. Officers also said they found two guns at the scene, one of them had an armed extended machine. “There were hundreds of individuals just enjoying South Street, as they do every weekend, when this shooting broke out.”
At least two guns were recovered from the scene, and Pace said one of them had an extended magazine. ‘Numerous’ shell casings were found along the 200 and 300 blocks.
“It went on for much longer than I thought it should go on. At that point you question ‘what is that?’ I knew it must’ve been gunshots. It must’ve been 30 shots I heard,” said resident Frank Snyder.
In all, 15 people were hit by gunfire. Of those victims, three people are dead and 12 more are wounded. The victims who were killed include a 26-year old woman, a 22-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, police said.
