Ron DeSantis Faces Backlash After Jokingly Calling Elon Musk African-American

Gov. Ron DeSantis is making a few people mad today after joking calling Elon Musk “African-American” due to his South-African decent.

In a press conference yesterday, DeSantis, who is considering running for president in 2024, was asked about the support he plans to get from tech billionaire, Elon Musk, in his potential presidential run.

DeSantis jokingly replied that he’s staying in the moment, but welcomes support from “African-Americans”. “I’m focused on 2022,” DeSantis said.“

“But with Elon Musk what I would say is, I welcome support from African Americans, what can I say?”

If y’all didn’t know, Elon Musk is from South Africa. So DeSantis tried to get his little joke off Chile 😩. The people, obviously, didn’t find the joke funny and called him out via Twitter.

“If said before that @GovRonDeSantis is a humorless, more openly fascist version of Trump. Here he is displaying the former quality in that for him, “humor” means mocking Black Americans with his own, idiotic and offensive version of replacement theory. Black Floridians take note.” Politician commentator Joy-Ann Reid said.
