Gunna Speaks On Spending 29th Birthday In Jail: ‘I’m Being Falsely Accused’
Gunna Releases Statement After Spending His 29th Birthday In Cell
Last year, Gunna celebrated his 28th birthday with all sorts of luxurious activities fit for a king in Los Angeles.
Attended by fellow rappers and celebs like Drake, Future, and more, his birthday bash kicked off with a unique dinner experience before the attendees hit up a rooftop bar.
He began the events with a dinner held at an Aston Martin dealership in LA. His guests were able to dine inside of a vault before later transitioning the party to the Highlight Room in Hollywood. There, heavy hitters like Drake, Future, and Young Thug greeted the Atlanta rapper and joined in on the fun.
In footage from the event, Gunna’s friends showered him with cash and bling. Longtime collaborator and music producer friend Wheezy gifted him $20k “for the years we didn’t know each other,” while Lil Baby gave the rapper $100k in cash. He also received a massive diamond-encrusted pinky ring.
However, a lot has changed as the rapper is now spending his 29th birthday in jail. Gunna, whose legal name is Sergio Kitchens, is one of the 28 alleged gang members named in the Fulton County district attorney’s indictment.
Recently, Gunna was denied bond with prosecutor Don Geary, accusing Gunna of being one of the leaders of YSL. He claims that Gunna is in a “command” position and has the ability to order hits and could intimidate witnesses. Gunna’s defense calls those claims false.
Speaking on his 29th birthday, Gunna shared a lengthy note on Instagram, maintaining his innocence. “22 & 2, just a bed & a shower, no windows just walls. Can’t see or talk to anyone. I’m writing now & still praying everyday . I was raised to fight fire with water, even tho my country’s amendments have failed me! PROTECT BLACK ART” he wrote in the caption.
