16-Year-Old Boy Released After Putting The Paws On A NYPD Officer After Jumping A Turnstile

Surveillance video shows the bloody brawl between an NYPD officer and a teenager who were confronted by NYPD for allegedly jumping a turnstile, NY Post reports.

According to police reports, two cops stopped the teens after the 16-year-old boy jumped the turnstile while his female counterpart went under it at the 125th Street-Lexington Avenue station in East Harlem.

The situation quickly escalated after the boy “became verbally aggressive for over 3 minutes with officers,” authorities said. The boy is seen wrestling with the male officer as he tried to arrest him, which resulted in a bloody exchange.

The boy is seen going blow for blow with the male cop while his female associate jumped in letting off her rounds of punches before a female cop pulled her away. The girl began fighting the female cop. At one point, the boy seemingly overpowers the officer placing him in a choke hold before security steps in to help detain the boy.

The video ends with the officer handcuffing the boy as he laid on the ground with one side of his face completely bloody.

The pair was arrested and charged with “assault on a police officer, obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest,” cops said. The boy has since been released on his recognizance following a court appearance on Sunday, police sources said. The result of the teen girl’s arraignment is unclear, reports note.

Both officers were taken to NYU Langone Hospital where they were treated for their injuries. The male cop suffered “swelling to his head and shoulder,” cops said.
