Kelis Blasts Beyonce For Sampling Her Without Permission On New Album: “It’s Theft”

Kelis isn’t feeling being sampled on Beyoncé’s new album…mainly because she claims she wasn’t notified about it.

The milkshake singer says she was not asked to be featured and is accusing Beyoncé and her team of theft.

In a comment she wrote “My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding . I heard about this the same way everyone else did. Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled.”

Kelis is calling Beyoncé’s character into question. After a fan suggested that Beyoncé might admire Kelis, Kelis responded “admire is not the word.”

Beyoncé is one of the world’s best-selling recording artists, having sold over 120 million records worldwide as a solo artist by 2010. She is the first solo artist to have their first six studio albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200.

Her success during the 2000s was recognized with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)’s Top Certified Artist of the Decade as well as Billboard’s Top Female Artist of the Decade.

In 2014, Billboard named her the highest-earning black musician of all time, while in 2020, she was included on Time’s list of 100 women who defined the last century.
