25-Year-Old Unarmed Man Killed After Being Shot 60 Times By 8 Akron Police Officers, 90 Rounds Reportedly Went Off

Another unarmed black man has fallen at the hands of police. Jayland Walker of Akron, OH was killed by police after they shot 90 rounds, striking him 60 + times.

According to authorities, Akron Police attempted to stop Walker for a routine traffic stop around 12:30 am Monday, when Walker led them on a high speed chase throughout the city.

Police allege that Walker fired a shot during the chase.

After the chase, Walker got out of the car and started to flee on foot. Police say he was a threat and fired off over 90 rounds of bullets, striking Jayland 60 + times.

Eight officers, 7 white and 1 black, have been placed on administrative leave. During the investigation, a gun was found inside the car. Walker was not armed at the time of the shooting. Walker’s family is devastated and is demanding justice.

“Why? Why did this happen in such a manner, such a terrible, terrible way,” Walker’s mother, Pamela, said Thursday in an exclusive interview with 3News Investigates.

The investigation is still pending. Protesters have already filled the streets of Akron to condemn this senseless murder.
