Georgia Teen Found Dead After Being Turned Away From Mental Health Center When His Insurance Declined

A Georgia teen was found dead after he was turned away from a mental facility. Now, his parents are speaking out about his struggles and believe that more could’ve been done to save his life.

Just one day after 17-year-old Yaron Kathuri’s body was found in Douglasville, the teens father, Andrew Kathuri, spoke with 11Alive about the traumatic experience.

He says he was in disbelief after learning that his body had been found at the bottom of a concrete structure in the woods.

Yaron’s parents said he recently started struggling with anxiety and depression. He was unable to focus on schoolwork and began researching treatments. The night before he disappeared his mother recalled telling him how much she loved him.

“I told him, ‘God has a plan for your life and he always has a good plan for you,'” she said. “I woke him up at seven the next morning and I prayed with him and held his hands, and prayed with him. And then he got ready to go to school.”

He never made it to school but called his mother that morning and stated that he felt like a burden.

The family did seek medical attention before his disappearance. However, they were turned away from one facility because their insurance declined to cover his treatments there, and they were turned away from another because it was at capacity.
