Two Dallas Hospital Employees Killed After Man Opened Fire Shortly After His Child Was Born
Two Dallas hospital employees were killed after a father opened fire inside the hospital shortly after the birth of his child.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Nestor Oswaldo Hernandez was at the hospital for the birth of his child with his girlfriend.
Hernandez had just been released from prison on parole for aggravated robbery. According to reports, shortly after his girlfriend gave birth, Hernandez began acting strangely and accused the mother of cheating. He pulled out a handgun and struck his girlfriend with it several times in the head, the affidavit alleges.

The girlfriend told police he told her “We are both going to die today,” and “Whoever comes into this room is going to die with us,” according to the affidavit.
The affidavit alleges Hernandez fatally shot the first victim when the person entered the room. Then, the warrant alleges, Hernandez shot the second victim, who looked into the room after the gunshot.
A Methodist Health Systems officer also heard the shot and took cover before shooting Hernandez in the right leg. The shooting took place in the labor and delivery section of the hospital. Both victims died of their injuries. The identities of the two victims haven’t been released yet, but both are assumed to be nurses.
Hernandez was arrested by Methodist Health police on capital murder charges. Hernandez had a lengthy record and even wore an ankle monitor at the time of the shooting.
