J. Cole Reveals He Smoked Cigarettes Regularly At 6-Years-Old

J. Cole is undoubtedly one the best rappers of his generation, often regarded as an intelligent lyricist. However, his recent revelation on his childhood took fans by surprise.

During a recent interview, Cole was asked the stupidest thing he did and according to him, it was smoking cigarettes regularly at 6-years-old.

“At 6-years-old I was smoking cigarettes regularly around the neighborhood,” the North Carolina rapper said. “The thing is my brother is 4 years older than me…” “He smoking too?” the interviewer asked. “Nooo, that’s the wild thing,” Cole replied.

“I was always hanging around the older niggas in the neighborhood that he was hanging around . They was smoking and I was young and fearless and tryna be cool..”

“So it was like.. ‘oh y’all smoke that.. let me see that..'” he continued.

Cole initially gained recognition as a rapper following the release of his debut mixtape, The Come Up, in early 2007. Intent on further pursuing a musical career, he went on to release two additional mixtapes, The Warm Up (2009) and Friday Night Lights (2010) both to critical acclaim, after signing to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint in 2009.

Cole has won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Song, a Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Album, three Soul Train Music Awards, and 8 BET Hip Hop Awards. All five of his albums have been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), as well as Revenge of the Dreamers III.
