Joe Budden Says Frank Ocean Is Overrated & A Scammer For Pulling Out Of Coachella
Joe Budden Calls Frank Ocean ‘Overrated’ & ‘A Scammer’ For Pulling Out Of Coachella
Joe Budden went off on a rant against Frank Ocean after the singer pulled out of Coachella following a lack luster performance.
“Frank Ocean is a scammer. He’s a scammer for the way he got out of his [Def Jam] Universal contract. I think most of the scams are genius,” Budden said on his podcast.
“He’ll always wear the scammer tag for me. That f-cked up a lot of artists, he didn’t care. Lost a lot of artist revenue streams, took Apple out the game, he didn’t care.”
He continued: “But I’m not so mad at that. Apple exclusive deals where Apple comes and pays a sh-t-ton of money to come have the project exclusive to Apple for a week, two weeks, something like that. Frank Ocean was in his Def Jam contract so he could not do that. He had one album left to deliver to Def Jam and they had a hard time negotiating around that.”
Budden was also frustrated that Frank Ocean could not say for certain when he would be dropping a new album.
Frank Ocean is a singer, songwriter, photographer, fashion designer, and rapper. His works are noted by music critics for featuring avant-garde styles and introspective, elliptical lyrics.
Ocean has won two Grammy Awards and a Brit Award for International Male Solo Artist among other accolades, and his two studio albums have been listed on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time (2020).
