North Carolina Man Arrested After Shooting Young Girl & Her Parents After Basketball Rolls Into His Yard
The North Carolina suspect accused of shooting a young girl and her parents when a basketball rolled into his yard has been apprehended in Florida.
According to BBC News, Robert Louis Singletary ended a two-day manhunt by turning himself in on Thursday in Tampa.
The hunt was due to him shooting at his neighbors whose children had tried retrieving their ball from his yard. Jonathan Robertson, a neighbor, said “They were playing basketball, and a ball rolled into his yard. They went to go and get it. It was just crazy.”

Singletary began shouting at the children, prompting the father of one of the children to approach him. Police say the suspect retrieved a gun in his home, returning outside to begin shooting at his neighbors. The six-year-old girl suffered bullet fragments to her check.
Her mother suffered a grazing bullet wound to the elbow and her father was reported to have serious injuries. The man who argued with the suspect remained unharmed.
Singletary faces four counts of first-degree attempted murder. He will also be charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
While the daughter and mother have been tested and discharged, the father remains seriously injured in the hospital.
