Gas Station Owner Arrested & Charged With Murder For Shooting & Killing 14-Year-Old Boy He Thought Was Stealing A Bottle Of Water

South Carolina gas station is being torn up from top to bottom after a store owner shot and killed a 14-year-old who he believed was stealing a bottle of water.

According to Richland County Sheriff’s Department, around 8 p.m. Sunday night, Cyrus Carmack-Belton went inside a Shell gas station.

The owner, Rick Chow, accused the teen of shoplifting bottles of water. However, Sheriff Leon Lott of the county department says that isn’t true.

Video surveillance showed the teen did touch some water bottles, but put them back in the cooler. After getting into an argument with the store owner, the teen left and was chased by the store owner’s son, and the owner Chow who had a pistol.

The teen tripped near some apartments. That’s when Chow’s son allegedly told him the teen had a gun. Chow then shot Carmack-Belton in the back. There was a gun found next to Belton’s body but police determined her never pointed it at them because he was shot while his back was turned.

“You don’t do what happened last night,” Shierff Lott said.

“These are the facts of the case,” he continued. “A tragic incident occurred and the person responsible has been arrested. There’s no reason for this to happen.” Chow was arrested and charged with murder.
