Mother Sues American Airlines After Her Teenage Son Died Of Cardiac Arrest Mid Flight
A mother is seeking unspecified damages against American Airlines after her teenage son went into cardiac arrest aboard a flight with no charged AED’s on hand.
According to sources, the incident initially began when the 14-year-old, Kevin Greenidge, went into cardiac arrest and a passenger on the flight who just so happened to be a doctor tried to assist the young boy.
Unfortunately, when he asked the staff to bring him an AED, they informed the medical professional that he could not use the equipment because it wasn’t charged.

The mother of the teen, Melissa Arzu, filed the lawsuit upon learning about the Aviation Medical Assistance Act of 1998 when she learned that not only are airlines required to inspect AED’s regularly in case of emergencies such as these, but that if it was charged, her son would still be alive and well today.
Arzu believes her son’s death was due to carelessness, recklessness, and negligence of AA, its respective agents, servants, and employees for allegedly failing to maintain the AED and failing to ensure that it was properly charged.
