Woman Arrested For Shooting Uber Driver In The Head

A woman that was visiting Texas has been charged with felony aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury after allegedly shooting her Uber driver in the head.

Phoebe Copas, 48, claims she shot her Uber driver because she thought he was trying to kidnap her and take her to Mexico.

According to statements obtained by the New York Post, Copas says she was headed to meet her boyfriend at the casino when she noticed traffic signs that read “Juarez, Mexico” while en route, leading her to believe she was being kidnapped.

Copas then allegedly pulled out a silver handgun from her purse and shot the man in his head, causing the car to crash into a road barrier. She then reportedly took pictures of the bloodied scene and sent the images to her boyfriend.

Police arrived to the scene where the unidentified boyfriend was helping her get out of the car. This is where the story gets crazy y’all. Police later revealed that the shooting was nowhere in close proximity to a bridge, port, exit, or entry to a route leading to Mexico. Police also noted the fact that their investigation will not support the fact that a kidnapping took place.

After the Uber app revealed the driver, Daniel Garcia, 52, was indeed following the route to Copas’ destination, they released a public statement. “Violence is not tolerated on our Uber platform,” an official said. “We banned the rider as soon as we were made aware of the occurrence.”

Since then, Garcia has reportedly been clinging to his life in the ICU. The driver’s family members say they are praying for a miracle as Garcia was excited to be back, ubering after returning from a knee injury. No details on a court date have been released at the moment
