Grandparents Charged With First Degree Murder After Beating 5-Year-Old Granddaughter To Death With Belt After She Soiled Herself

According to The New York Post, two Chicago grandparents are in jail right now after beating their 5-year old granddaughter, Jada Moore, to death with a belt after finding out their Moore soiled herself.

The prosecutors on the case revealed that for more than two months, Moore had been subject to beatings that left her with lasting effects.

Klent Elwoods and Lisa Jones, Moore’s grandparents, were charged with first-degree murder after the Cook County Medical Examiner ruled Moore’s death a homicide.

Elwoods admitted to dispatch about the nature of his involvement that caused Moore’s death, saying, “I was beating my little granddaughter and now she is out of it.”

It is also reported that Moore had bleeding in the space between her brain and her skull. Moore began staying with her grandparents in April 2023 after her mother needed time to get back on her feet again.

Elwoods and Jones have both been denied bond and are due back in court on August 2nd.
